Whether you’re brand new to sewing or just need a refresher, this beginner-friendly class is designed to help you build confidence using your home sewing machine. We’ll walk through the essential functions of your machine step-by-step so you can feel comfortable and capable when sitting down to sew. In this class, we aim to teach the basics of your home sewing machine. This includes going over the manual, machine set up, how to use the machine, and sewing needle sizes.

In this class, we’ll expand on Class 1 by introducing key sewing tools like snips, seam rippers, and machine needles. You’ll learn to read grainlines, cut fabric on grain, and practice stitching various seam allowances on muslin. We’ll cover essential seam finishes such as stay stitching, under stitching, and serging and introduce core hand sewing techniques including slip stitch, blind stitch, and sewing on a button.

Let’s take your sewing game to the next level! In this practical class, you’ll master essential techniques like curved seams, darts, gathers, pleats, and buttonholes. You’ll also explore interesting seam treatments including French, Hong Kong, flat-felled, and slot seams. Perfect for building confidence and precision.

No machine? No problem! This class is for people who do not want to learn how to use the sewing machine, but would like to know how to properly sew on a button or do small repairs on their garments by hand. If you wish to know how to use a sewing machine and how to hand sew please take our Class 1: Learning the Machine and Class 2: Sewing Basics 1. Sewing Basics one will include the same hand sewing techniques as Class 0: Hand Sewing.
